The main objective of this component was to disseminate information on energy efficient practices and technology applications to the industries. This is being done specifically through the publication of a quarterly newsletter, MIEEIP News and a well-equipped resource centre that caters for a diverse audience.


A significant activity under this component was the establishment of an association of energy professionals, consultants, technology developers and providers. The Malaysian Energy Professionals Association (MEPA) was officially registered on 18 April 2002 and it serves as a platform for energy professionals to discuss matters on and disseminate information related to energy efficiency. To date, it has 150 registered members.
This component has also submitted to the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications a comprehensive proposal on the Registration of Energy Services Companies (ESCOs). This scheme will serve to ensure the credibilty and professionalism of ESCOs in Malaysia once it comes into force;
