the production of energy-efficent refrigerators in the market
today.
"While
it may not be mandatory for manufacturers at the moment
to adhere to the energy efficiency grading as provided with
the signing of these two agreements, we expect encouraging
support from manufacturers who want to upgrade or certify
their products to world class standards," Moggie said
after the signing ceremony on 4 December 2003.
He
said the signatories of these two agreements accounted for
about 85 percent of the refrigerators and 65 percent of
the motors sold in the country.
