A
Pusat Tenaga Malaysia recently launched two publications
under the Malaysian Industrial Energy Efficiency Improvement
Project (MIEEIP): the Industrial Energy Audit Guidelines:
A handbook for energy auditors and the Malaysian ESCO Directory.
The
publications were launched at the Second National Convention
for Energy Professionals on 22 September 2003 by the Deputy
Energy, Communications and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Tan
Chai Ho. Datuk Tan represented the Honourable Minister Datuk
Amar Leo Moggie.
The
guidelines have been published to assist auditors in the
industries and from energy service companies as well as
the factory management to carry out energy audits as the
first step towards energy management. Apart from tips on
initiating and conducting energy audits, the handbook contains
practical guidelines on the audit of six common energy systems,
namely electricity supply and consumption, steam generation
and distribution, compressed air, fans and blowers, pumps
and electric motors. The contents are largely based on the
common and established practices in energy auditing and
the experiences of the MIEEIP team in carrying out audits
at 48 Malaysian factories
Meanwhile,
the directory of Malaysian energy service companies, or
ESCOs was compiled to introduce the local ESCOs and the
services that they offer to industrial and commercial clients.
It also introduces some templates for agreements and case
studies of ESCO projects in energy efficiency, using the
energy performance contracting (EPC) approach.
Both these publications are available for limited distribution
at PTM.
