• To create national awareness (covering the general public) on the implementation of simple energy efficiency (EE) measures that can be effectively carried out
• To publicise the benefits of EE activities - economics and environmental
• To ensure that the public realize the value of conventional energy resource
• To encourage the practice of minimizing energy wastage
• To ensure that the public sector (government) shows good example by implementing EE measures
• To promote the use of renewable (RE) energy to project "green image"

• Bringing together the government, private sector and professional bodies to carry out promotion and awareness efforts in relation to EE and RE
• To inform the public about:

(i) The government's effort in EE and RE
(ii) The benefits of EE and RE to the individual, organization and the country

• Promotion of implementation of EE and RE practices, technologies and equipment
• Realisation that the energy is a "valuable" resource heavily subsidized by the government
