- To undertake end-use forecasting, energy demand/supply planning and development and feasibility studies to assist both public and private sector organisation in formulating effective energy strategies and project implementation
- To compile and assist in the publication of energy statistics and undertake appropriate studies on its own or in collaboration with other energy centres
- To act as a ‘think-tank' to help formulate strategies and methodologies to ensure security and sustainability of energy supplies and a ‘one-step agency' to promote and enhance public and private sector partnership and investment
- To develop in-house capabilities/expertise in energy forecast and modelling system for short & long term energy outlook
- To develop, maintain and update a computerised information system including databank
